Day 4: Delphi and Kalambaka (digital and film)

By in Greece, Photo Post

Breakfast: Burnt toast (I made the mistake of running it through the toaster twice because I thought the first time was too light), pastries, hard boiled egg, muesli and yogurt. Hiking in the cliffs of Delphi. We visited the archeological site, which was amazing and offered beautiful views of the valley below. Can you see [...]

Day 3: Olympia and Delphi, on Film

By in Greece, Photo Post

That marbled confection was halva, I think. From what I know, it’s made of tahini, sugar or honey and other flavorings. I’d never had it before and I figured that a sesame-paste like piece of fudge would be delicious, but this one wasn’t, perhaps I just had a bad version? Walking around the ruins of [...]

Day 2, Greece: Canals, Epidaurus, Mycenae, and Olympia, on Film

By in Greece, Photo Post

Early morning breakfast before setting off on our land tour. Got to have those delicious Greek tomatoes in the morning! Sitting in the stands at the Amphitheater of Epidaurus. Lunch was at a local taverna, which was a family operation. The head waiter brought us to the kitchen, where the chef was busy preparing all [...]

Day 2, Greece: Canals, Epidaurus, Mycenae, and Olympia

By in Greece, Photo Post

This canal connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Aegean Sea. The Amphitheater of Epidaurus: Amazing acoustics. The tour guides did a demonstration where they stood at the focus of the amphitheater, clapped, whispered and tore a piece of paper. I was sitting near the top of the amphitheater and I could hear everything as [...]

Hope you all had a lovely night and were able to enjoy the full moon. Today I spent the day at my grandmother’s house for a family reunion. Scenes from our family’s celebratory lunch at my grandma’s house today: My grandma always prepares a bunch of Taiwanese traditional festival foods, all homemade and delicious. Altar [...]

Day 1, Athens, on Film

By in Greece, Photo Post

Finally got around to scanning and resizing all my photos that I took with Nikon FM film camera! Let’s continue with my first day in Athens, analog-style. Temple of Olympian Zeus. Lunch at Goody’s, a Greek fast-food joint. The food here looks much lighter, and more fresh than any McDonald’s we have here in the [...]

If I Were . . .

By in Meme, Photo Post

Long overdue, but I finally did it. I was tagged by the lovely Wei-Wei back in August (check out her great video). I’ve used some of my favorite photos from my flickr to supplement my answers; read along and maybe you’ll learn something new about me If I were a dessert, I’d be a cookie [...]

Belated Mother’s Day/Birthday Post

By in Dessert, Dinner, Holidays, Photo Post

I picked flowers from our garden for my mom. My sister’s birthday was yesterday and last weekend she came home from college to jointly celebrate her birthday and Mother’s Day with us. Since my mom flew off to Taiwan for a month on Saturday, we celebrated early on Friday night. Started off  by trying out [...]

Happy (Almost Belated) Earth Day

By in Daily Life, Photo Post

I hope you all had a beautiful, green day. I made a bouquet out of cilantro flowers from my grandparents’ garden. Thanks to all for your well wishes; my tonsillitis is getting better (albeit slower than I’d like), but I’m definitely on the mend!
