Early morning breakfast before setting off on our land tour. Got to have those delicious Greek tomatoes in the morning!
Sitting in the stands at the Amphitheater of Epidaurus.
Lunch was at a local taverna, which was a family operation. The head waiter brought us to the kitchen, where the chef was busy preparing all the food for the day and let us look at all the different dishes they had to offer; which was really great. We opted to try a bunch of the traditional Greek home foods: Stuffed tomatoes (yemista), baked beans with carrots in an addictive tomato sauce (gigantes) and an eggplant casserole with a kind of bechamel-y sauce baked on top (moussaka). Everything was delicious, and I was loved being able to try something else besides the usual greek salad + gyros/pitas that we have here in the states.
Sightseeing at the ruins at Mycenae. We arrived just prior to a huge thunderstorm which explains the somewhat ominous/dreary atmosphere. I saw a felled branch of a fig tree and was tempted to steal it away for the fruits.
Dinner buffet that night at our hotel (must have not wound the film all the way in this one).
