Mid-Autumn Festival! 中秋節快樂!
By Pinjing in Autumn, Dessert, HolidaysFor those who celebrate, 中秋節快樂! I hope you all are enjoying the full moon and reflecting on this year’s bounty. Here’s a sampling of the mooncakes that our family received this year:
Some mooncakes have a salted yolk in the middle to symbolize the full moon. I’ll be enjoying this one tonight. They’re so dense calorically, but well-made ones are so worth it.
What are your favorite flavors?

[1], [2]: Dinner at Native Foods. [3]: Harvesting lemons from our backyard. [4]: Our little patch of sweet-potato leaves (delicious boiled and served with light soy sauce.) [5], [6]: House scenes.
Just a few shots from various weekends using my latest toy: Olympus [MJU:]-II; I was scrounging around in my grandparent’s house and examining my grandfather’s camera collection and found this little gem. It’s got a pretty sharp lens for a point and shoot and using it is kind of fiddly (you have to remember to turn off the flash everytime you open the lens cover and set the spot metering and focus), but once you get past its quirks, it’s quite fun to use. Expect to see more from this camera

Do You Realize?

Sunlight and Sadness, A Weekend Walk
By Pinjing in Daily Life, Photo PostNothing like a walk by the pier to clear one’s head. Sorry that I have been missing for the past few months, but life has been a bit crazy around here. My aunt passed away on Saturday morning, so my Dad and I decided to take a walk to help us lift our spirits a little.
On a side note, I did get some nice pictures of the wooden pier and the waves that I think would make lovely wallpapers; I’m working on getting those up soon. I’ve never offered wallpapers before so this is will be a first.
Day 9: Last Day In Athens (Digital and Film)
By Pinjing in Greece, Photo PostAfter our few days in paradise on Mykonos, we headed back to Athens were we had one last day of sightseeing before heading back home:
We decided to start with the changing of the guards at the Parliament Building (near Syntagma Metro Station).
This guard was TALL.
Lunch at O Thanasis, one of the most highly recommended souvlaki joints in Athens. We got there right before lunch rush and good thing too; within 10 minutes all the tables were filled. We could see why this place was recommended by everyone; the beef was super juicy, the onion slaw on top seasoned just right, and fluffy pitas underneath to sop up all the juices. Paired with tzatziki and a greek salad (check out that massive block of feta), by far the best meal I had in Athens, and super cheap as well.

We ended the day at the National Archaeological Museum, which houses the largest collection of ancient Greek artifacts in the world. We spent several hours there and still didn’t finish seeing all the exhibits. Amazing collection; if you’re ever in Athens, make sure to devote a whole day to this.

Day 8: Delos (digital)
By Pinjing in Greece, Photo PostWe decided to take a day trip to Delos by ferry. Considered the birthplace of Apollo and a sacred site (no one is allowed to be birthed here, no one is allowed to die here). Amazing site with vast collection of ruins, but since the day was so windy (I could barely open my eyes without sand getting in them or falling over from the wind), I wasn’t able to snap that many pictures; though it was fun running around in manner of Indiana Jones searching for lost artifacts . . .
Above: The mythical lions in the Lion District. Apparently these are replicas; the real ones are in the museum.

Tired after being tossed in the wind all day, we opted just to get a light take-out dinner and eat it in the hotel room. Tzatziki, salad and bread, I could eat these everyday probably.
